What types of resident spaces do you offer?

We offer two main types of resident spaces:

  • Private Bays: Dedicated workspace areas within our shared workshop spaces.

  • Self-contained Studios: Fully private studio spaces with your own enclosed area.

What's the difference between a bay and a studio?

Bays are dedicated workspace areas within our communal workshop, giving you your own marked space while sharing the overall environment. Studios are fully enclosed, private spaces that offer complete privacy for your work.

How much do resident spaces cost?

  • Bays: Starting from £1,200 + VAT per month.

  • Studios: Range from £465 to £1,700 + VAT per month (depending on size and location).

What benefits come with a resident space?

All resident spaces include:

  • Your own dedicated workspace or studio.

  • 24/7 access.

  • 50% discount on all digital machine bookings (CNC, laser cutter).

  • 50% discount on spray room bookings.

  • Free inductions on all wood/metal machines & power tools for up to 2 people (worth £250 per person).

What additional perks do residents get?

  • Free WiFi and kitchen facilities.

  • Opportunities to showcase work during events such as London Craft Week and the London Design Festival.

  • Access to our community support network, including paid opportunities.

  • Registered postal address for your business.

  • Access to supplier discounts.

Do I get access to all the workshop equipment?

Yes! Residents have access to our full range of equipment including woodworking machines (table saw, bandsaw, planer/thicknesser, etc.), hand tools, power tools, digital suite (CNC and laser cutter), and spray room facilities.

Can I store materials and projects in my space?

Yes, your resident space includes dedicated storage, and you can keep ongoing projects in your designated area. Additional storage options are available if needed.

Can I bring guests or clients to my space?

Yes, residents can bring guests and clients to showcase their work. This is part of building your business presence within our maker community.

How does the free bench booking work?

In addition to your resident space, you get unlimited free access to small workbenches throughout the workshop, plus 8 hours per week of free medium workspace booking for larger projects.

Can I use POW as my business address?

Yes, residents can use our address (41 Standard Road, NW10 6HF London) as their registered business address.

Is there a minimum contract period?

What if I need help with my projects or want to learn new skills?

As a resident, you get free inductions on all our machines and tools. In addition, we offer paid coaching sessions. Our community of makers is also very supportive and collaborative.

What information do you need from applicants?

We like to know about your projects, the types of materials you work with, your business goals, and any specific space or equipment requirements you might have.

Is there a waiting list?

Space availability varies. Contact us to discuss current availability and we can advise on timing.

Can I tour the space before committing?

Absolutely! We encourage potential residents to book a tour first. You can book a tour through our website or contact us directly.

What's the community like?

POW attracts a diverse community of makers including product designers, carpenters, furniture makers, artists, sculptors, engineers, and entrepreneurs. Our vision is to "give everyone the chance to make it."

Do you provide business support or networking opportunities?

Yes, residents have access to our community support network, which includes paid opportunities, showcasing possibilities through our public programmes, and connections with other makers and potential clients.

Can I teach or run workshops from my space?

We'd be happy to discuss opportunities for residents to contribute to our educational programming. Contact us to explore possibilities.
