Workshop Tutor

We are seeking an experienced workshop tutor, with a passion for making and mentoring, to run our woodworking workshops and develop new session formats. This role will be responsible for guiding participants through hands-on projects, from complete beginners taking taster sessions to advanced makers in our extended programmes.

This is a full time or part time role which takes responsibility for delivering workshop sessions, coordinating with our team and external tutors, and developing our workshop offerings in the exciting, developing and creative area of Park Royal.

This is designed as an opportunity for growth and involvement in the future of the business. The role will include opportunities for further training, new workshop development, and advisory on expanding our session offerings as well as unlimited access to the tools and machinery for personal projects

Responsibilities:

  • Running woodworking workshop sessions across all skill levels (Intro to Joinery, Beyond the Basics, Taster Sessions)

  • Leading specialized workshops including serving board making, seasonal classes, and corporate away days

  • Conducting children's woodworking summer courses with appropriate safeguarding measures

  • Providing safety briefings and equipment guidance to workshop participants

  • Designing and developing new workshop formats based on community interest

  • Coordinating workshop schedules and session planning with our team and external tutors

  • Maintaining a safe, supportive environment that encourages learning and creativity

  • Preparing workshop materials and managing session logistics

  • Supporting participants with hands-on guidance and project mentorship during sessions

Person Requirements: 

Essential:

  • Minimum 5 years experience in woodworking and joinery techniques

  • Experience mentoring or guiding others in practical making skills

  • Strong understanding of workshop safety and best practices

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work with diverse groups including children, adults, and corporate teams

  • Passionate about helping others learn and develop making skills

  • Reliable, organized, and able to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends

Desirable:

  • Experience running workshops or practical sessions

  • Experience working with community groups

  • First Aid certification

  • Understanding of safeguarding requirements for working with children

We Offer:

  • £30,000 - £35,000 per annum (full-time), pro-rata for part-time positions
